History

Founded in late 2014, Sabuncu Brain Research Center aims to unite Bilkent researchers’ expertise in Psychology, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics for the investigation, imaging and theoretical modeling of the molecular and physiological processes responsible for phenomena such as visual perception, information processing and early brain development, as well as the defects in these processes that may occur in patients suffering from psychological and neurodegenerative disorders. Despite its recent establishment, the Center contains a core staff of ten researchers, 29 students and one post-doctoral associate, and supports research efforts on MRI imaging, Essential Tremor diagnostics, aging dynamics in zebrafish, molecular characterization of ataxia and epilepsy and miscellaneous other topics.
