Behavioural Neuroscience

Behavioural neuroscience is a branch of neuroscience which studies physiological, developmental mechanisms and genetics of behaviour in non-human animals and humans. Behavioural neuroscience are in close relation with comparative/evolutionary psychology, biology, evolutionary biology and neuroscience. Typical investigation areas of behavioural neuroscience are at the cellular and molecular level; neurons, neurotransmitters and biological processes taking place in the brain that affecting normal and abnormal behaviour. Behavioural neuroscience studies often contributes to evidence-based practice since non-human animal models are mostly used and these knowledge in is used for better understanding about human behaviour. Usage of model animals enables scientist to study subject which can not be studied on humans and since species share some biological and behavioral similarities the data from animal models could be interpreted to humans.
